Social Innovation Fast Pitch Event Creates Visibility for Holy Family

On Thursday, March 1, Holy Family participated in the Pittsburgh Social Venture Partners’ Social Innovation Fast Pitch event. It is a two-month program designed to build the capacity of and create visibility for innovative nonprofits in Allegheny County, providing valuable technical assistance as well as the chance for participants to compete for over $35,000 in prize awards.

The participating nonprofits are coached by local community leaders who help them gain the tools and resources needed to improve their communication, increase their fundraising success and elevate their profile. We would like to offer a special thank you to Holy Family’s coaches, Mr. Mark Dewitt, First Vice President of BNY Mellon Wealth Management and Mrs. Barbara Dewitt, retired, BNY Mellon.

Each of the ten finalist organizations, including Holy Family, were allotted three minutes at Thursday’s event to “pitch” their program to an audience of more than 350 people.  While Holy Family did not win a prize this year, our presenter, grantwriter Hayley Martin, did a great job of gaining valuable exposure for our organization. Our featured program, the Parent-Child Home Program, will receive $500 for Holy Family’s participation in the event.
