Hussey Copper Employees Bring Gifts and Hope to HFI Families

Santa Claus has dispatched an enthusiastic team of helpers, in the form of Hussey Copper employees, to bring gifts and hope to Pittsburgh-area children and families who are struggling this Christmas.

Sarah and Kayla, daughters of a Hussey Copper employee, carry a box of gifts and prove you’re never too young to help others.

For the sixth straight year, more than 30 caring employees and their families devoted an entire work day to shopping and wrapping gifts for children and families served by Holy Family Institute. Much-needed items such as cookware, bedding, other household essentials, and, of course, plenty of toys will help ensure that the holiday season is special for these deserving recipients.

Hussey Copper formed the 501c3 Children’s Christmas Fund in 2007 and plans for this yearly event weeks in advance, soliciting wish lists from children and families in HFI’s residential and in-home counseling programs and raising thousands of dollars for the shopping trip. On December 18, volunteers divided into teams, working together like a well-oiled machine to shop, wrap, sort, and deliver the gifts all in the same day. It was a terrifically satisfying day in which all involved couldn’t help but be touched by the experience.

“We are so grateful that Hussey Copper has been such a loyal friend to Holy Family for a number of years,” says Sister Linda Yankoski, President and CEO of Holy Family Institute. “Their giving spirit is truly the embodiment of the Christmas season.”

The end result is scores of families receiving necessities that many of us take for granted, and children experiencing the magical Christmas joy that every child deserves.
