Who We Are

HFI Remembers Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou was hailed as one of the great voices of contemporary literature and a remarkable Renaissance woman.  Angelou captivated her audiences lyrically with vigor, fire and perception.  She had the unique ability to shatter the opaque prisms of race and class between reader and subject throughout her books of poetry and her autobiographies.

Holy Family Institute was fortunate to have Angelou speak at our 100th Anniversary in October 2000.  Angelou participated in HFI’s lecture series at Carnegie Music Hall, honoring the work of HFI to preserve families, help children, and strengthen communities.  Today, we honor and pay tribute to Maya Angelou for her work and inspiring so many lives.

In Memory of Maya Angelou, 1928-2014.
