Thanks to the generosity of the Rooney Family, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and our volunteers, supporters and the Courage House Planning Committee, Holy Family was able to raise more than $195,000 at our 20th Anniversary Arthur J. Rooney Sr. Courage House Luncheon on October 30!

Despite the threat of bad weather caused by Hurricane Sandy, people turned out in droves to honor Holy Family Institute alumna Sheakia Edwards and Steelers offensive tackle Willie Colon, who received awards for showing courage by overcoming obstacles in their lives. During their speeches, Sheakia Edwards and Willie Colon offered words of wisdom and inspiration to the current residents of Holy Family Institute who were at the event. Attended by Art and Greta Rooney, Coach Mike Tomlin, and a number of present and former Steelers, this 20th anniversary event was made even more special by the appearance of Ambassador Dan Rooney.

The silent and live auctions offered an array of Steelers memorabilia and other priceless treasures, and attendees also had the opportunity to participate in an autograph session with current and former players. Artwork by the students of the HFI Cathy Pelusi Art Studio was on display for all to see, so that the student artists could gain confidence and be recognized in positive way.

On behalf of the children, families and staff of Holy Family Institute, we would like to thank our event sponsor, Highmark. “Highmark has a longstanding partnership with Holy Family Institute because we share the passion of serving local children and their families who are in need,” said Mary Anne Papale, Highmark’s director of community affairs.

Thank you also to our gold sponsors: Bognar and Company and Eaton Corporation; and black & gold sponsors: A.C. Dellovade Inc., Bartko Foundation, CONSOL Energy Inc., IBEW Local Union No. 5, R&V Associates, United States Steel Corporation, and Corporate Air, and thank you to the rest of our sponsors, silent auction donors, contributors, and attendees. With your help, we can continue to provide life-changing services to children and families in our community.

Thank you to the Pittsburgh Steelers for use of these event photos.
