Change a Life – Be a Volunteer at Holy Family!
For more than a century, Holy Family’s passion has been to care for children in need. We are looking for special volunteers to spend time with children in our residential care program - people who would like to share time with a child, with the potential of changing a life in the process.

About Us
Holy Family Institute is a well-known and respected social service agency in Southwestern Pennsylvania that has been providing care, treatment and education services for children and families since 1900. Our residential care program serves children, boys and girls ages 6 – 18, who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or other special circumstances.
 

About Our Volunteer Program
Holy Family is seeking volunteers to help us give the children we serve a bright and productive future. Studies have shown that one of the best ways to do that is for a child to be exposed to a caring adult. Individuals and families can provide interesting and rewarding experiences in a variety of ways.

Holy Family’s volunteer opportunities include:
B.E.S.T. Friend Mentor Program – A mentoring opportunity for adults who would like to provide one-on-one friendship and support to a child or teen. Matches are based on similar interests between the mentor and the mentee. These volunteers commit to spending time with their mentees at least twice a month.

Host Family Program – Families participating in the program are able to take a child on scheduled visits to their homes and on outings into the community. Host family members spend time with a child, acting as role models and mentors. This program is similar to the B.E.S.T. Friend Program but can include the entire family.

Program Volunteers – An activity based program that allows individuals the opportunity to bring their special interests, gifts and talents to our youth. They enjoy music, sports, arts and crafts and many other things.

A volunteer creates a relationship and forms a bond with a child that will last a lifetime. You may never know the full effect and enduring impact that a small gift of your time will have on a child.

All volunteers must be credentialed and have the following clearances and certifications: (within the last year)

• Act 33/34 clearances

• FBI clearance

• current Physical exam and TB test (completed within the past year)

• CPR

• First Aid training
